Our principal and staff
Our school team is committed to every student’s learning, wellbeing and sense of belonging. We work together to create a supportive and inclusive school where every child is set up for success.
Welcome from our principal
At Zig Zag Public School, we are proud to offer a learning environment that combines the best of both worlds-large enough to provide rich and diverse opportunities, yet small enough to ensure every student is truly known, valued, and supported. Our strong sense of community underpins everything we do, creating a welcoming and inclusive school where each child can thrive.
Guided by our vision, “Learning for All: Learning for Life,” we are committed to nurturing confident, capable learners in a safe and supportive environment. We strive to inspire curiosity, creativity, and resilience, equipping our students with the skills and mindset needed not only for success at school, but for life beyond it.
Our dedicated teachers and support staff are at the heart of our school. Their passion, expertise, and genuine care ensure high-quality learning experiences for every student, while fostering a culture of respect, belonging, and high expectations.
Surrounded by the natural beauty of the mountains, we are uniquely positioned to embed a strong environmental focus within our teaching and learning. Our students engage in authentic, hands-on experiences, including growing their own produce and using it in our state-of-the-art kitchen facility to prepare and share healthy recipes. Through these opportunities, we foster a deep connection to sustainability and an understanding of environmental responsibility.
We offer a broad range of opportunities to support students’ interests, talents, and aspirations. Our sporting programs extend both within and beyond the school, encouraging participation, teamwork, and excellence. High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) is supported through both embedded differentiation in the classroom and targeted programs, ensuring every learner is challenged and inspired to achieve their personal best.
Student leadership and voice are central to our school culture. We actively create opportunities for students to contribute to decision-making, develop leadership skills, and take pride in shaping their school community.
We recognise that education is a shared journey. Our strong partnerships with families and the wider community enrich our students’ experiences and strengthen our school. We are a proudly multicultural community, where diversity is valued and celebrated, and where students learn from and with one another in an inclusive environment. We also proudly acknowledge and celebrate the culture and identity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, ensuring this remains a respected and meaningful part of our learning community.
Preparing students for the future includes developing their confidence and capability in a digital world. Through the thoughtful integration of technology, we empower students to be responsible, creative, and innovative users of digital tools.
Through strong relationships, a focus on wellbeing, and positive behaviour approaches such as the PAX Good Behaviour framework, we support every student to grow, belong, and thrive as a lifelong learner.
As a proud member of Public Education and the Lithgow Educational Network, we are committed to equity, excellence, and opportunity for every student.
I warmly welcome you to our school community.
Kind regards,
Audrey Brown
